Real Tool Skills

Students learn real tool and bushcraft skills through hands-on projects that include safe knife use, carving functional wooden items, sharpening tools, and making cordage from natural and improvised materials. As students develop fine motor skills and craftsmanship, they gain an appreciation for the tools, materials, and technologies people have used throughout history to solve practical problems.

Cross Curricular

The Tools & Cordage Unit integrates science, engineering, history, and technology through hands-on investigations of materials, tool design, and traditional craftsmanship. As students create cordage, carve wooden projects, and explore historical technologies, they examine how people have used tools and natural resources to solve practical problems across cultures and time periods.
